Children, as you know, have developmental milestones. Basically, a milestone is the child's ability to perform specific tasks (ex. grasping, pinching, rolling, crawling, walking) at a particular age . When a child is unable to perform these tasks an occupational therapist's job is to find out why. Many times it is due to a developmental delay.
Once the therapist had identified that a child has a delay in a particular area, he or she is in a position to provide treatment. A large majority of developmental delays are not severe but it is crucial to provide early intervention.
At Providence Therapy we are focused on early identification and early intervention. Some developmental delays are severe while many others are mild / moderate and many times may go unidentified as a delay. If we both identify and treat delays at the preschool age we may eliminate the possibility of the delay becoming more severe and affecting the child in other areas as he or she matures. It is also much more effective to treat developmental delays during the early years then it is later on in childhood.
We also believe that offering a mobile service is beneficial to both you and your child. Your child will be more comfortable receiving treatments in his/her own environment such as in the preschool or home. When a child is more comfortable occupational therapy treatment become more effective.
And, if you are like many parents you live a busy life. With our mobile service we come to your child while they are in preschool, at home, or many other locations. This way you are not having to drive your child to and from therapy after work or after school.
