Unlike what you may think, Pediatric Occupational Therapy has nothing to do with helping children get jobs!! Rather, Pediatric Occupational Therapy is concerned with the child's ability to participate in desired daily life activities or "occupations." In the life of a child, occupations are such things as attending preschool or school, writing, socializing, learning,
playing, and any other activity a child participates in.
A Pediatric Occupational Therapist provides treatment to all children who have learning and developmental
delays. Providing treatment
early on in a child's development is key to eliminating developmental setbacks and preventing him or her from falling further behind as they mature.
To practice Pediatric Occupational Therapy one must have a masters degree in Occupational Therapy, be Nationally Board Certified, and
state licensed.
